MOMA Trip

During this trip to the Museum of moving images, I got to learn a lot about not only the history of filmmaking but also about how technology has advanced throughout the years. One of the exhibits that really stood out to me was the sound effect replacement in a sequence from the film The Terminator. Often times while watching movies it seems as if the sound effects were added seamlessly and with relative ease. However, during this demo, we got to see that the sound effects designer’s work is not easy, and rather requires a lot of decision making and meticulous attention to detail. Analysis of Age of Innocence

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v9PApoaqa4        I chose this scene from the Age of Innocence due to its complexity and Martin Scorsese's use of visual and filmmaking elements to tell us the story in a subtle manner. The next few shots show us what is happening in the room and we are even given a perspective shot from both Olenska and Newland Archer. This allows the viewer to see the party from the individual's perspective and it gives us insight into how important Newland and Olenska are to each other. The best part of this scene is the walk over by Olenska over to Newland who is across the room. Scorsese depicts Olenska as the center of th...
